Assembly/AU/Dec.137 (VIII) Page 1 DECISION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE GREEN WALL FOR THE SAHARA INITIATIVE The Assembly: 1. TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Commission on the launching of the Green Wall for the Sahara Initiative; 2. ENDORSES the Green Wall for the Sahara Initiative; 3. CALLS UPON the Commission to fast track implementation of the Green Wall Initiative through development of a Master Plan in collaboration with the concerned Member States, Regional Economic Communities, Private Sector, Civil Society Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations; 4. CALLS UPON Member States and Regional Economic Communities to put in place necessary institutional arrangements that are required at national, sub-regional and regional levels to guide the programme implementation process; 5. MANDATES the Commission to facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the Initiative by Member States and Regional Economic Communities; 6. CALLS UPON the development partners to support the affected Member States, RECs and the Commission to ensure the effective implementation of the Initiative at national, regional and continental levels.
