COMMUNIQUE OF THE 252nd MEETING OF
THE PEACE AND SECURITY COUNCIL
The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 252nd meeting, held on 9
December 2010, adopted the following decision on the situation in the Republic of Guinea:
Council:
1.
Commends the good conduct, on 27 June 2010 and 7 November 2010, of the
presidential election in the Republic of Guinea, which crowned the process of transition
launched within the framework of the Joint Ouagadougou Declaration of 15 January 2010, and
notes the restoration of constitutional order in the Republic of Guinea;
Decides, in the light of the above and on the basis of the Lomé Declaration on
Unconstitutional Changes of Government, to lift the suspension measure on the participation of
Guinea in AU activities, as well as the sanctions imposed on those whose actions constituted
obstacles to the process of return to constitutional order, as contained in its communiqués
PSC/PR/COMM. (CLXV), PSC/PR/COMM. (CCIV) and PSC/AHG/COMM. 2 (CCVII), adopted by its
165th, 204th and 207th meetings held on 29 December 2008, 17 September, and 29 October
2009, respectively;

Further decides to consider the situation in Guinea, notably to determine modalities for
continuing the support of the AU and its Member States to Guinea.
