Sports and humanitarian assistance activities were
organized.
A conference on peace, security and the electoral
process was held.

UNHCR
organized
cultural
events
with
performances by refugees under the theme Make
Peace Happen. Speeches were made by refugee
community leaders.
The High-Level Retreat on the Promotion of Peace, Security
& Stability in Africa, organized by the African Union, was
hosted in Cairo during the period 26-28 August. The Retreat
adopted the “Cairo call for Peace“.
UNHCR and the Permanent Delegation of the AU
to the Arab League organized joint events
involving speeches and cultural shows to mark
Peace Day, with the participation of refugees and
asylum seekers.
The Egyptian Postal Service issued a special stamp.
The Suzanne Mubarak Women International Peace
Movement organized the “African Policy Dialogue Forum on
Women, Peace and Security”, from 23 to 25 November 2010.
12. Ethiopia
The Federal Ministry of Health of Ethiopia and the Somali
Regional State, in collaboration with the World Health
Organization, held a public event in Jijiga town, on 21
December 2010, under the theme: “Peace for Health and
Development”.
The Make Peace Happen Lesson Plan was
implemented in national and international schools
in Addis Ababa.
Hosted the Peace Concert at the National Theater
jointly organized by the Commissions of the African
Oxfam International, Addis Ababa Office, supported the Union and European Union.
