HIGH COMMISSION TERRITORIES
The Assembly of Heads of State and government meeting in it Second Ordinary
Session in Accra, Ghana, from 21 to 25 October 1965,
Having examined the report of the Administrative Secretary-General of the
Organization of African Unity,
Being concerned that parties which have openly declared that they would closely
co-operate with the Pretoria regime have assumed control of the governmental
machineries in these territories,
Being desirous to prevent the absorption of these territories by the Pretoria
government,
1. REAFFIRMS the various decisions taken by the Organization of Unity;
2. TAKES NOTE with satisfaction of the continuous efforts made by the
African Members of the United Nations to secure the application of
resolution 1514 concerning the granting of independence to colonized peoples
and to encourage them to continue their efforts until complete independence
of all colonized territories in Africa is attained;
3. DECIDES to continue to support these movements which have so far been
supported by the Organization of African Unity,
4. RENEWS ITS REQUEST to the Member States of the Organization of
African Unity to take the necessary steps to secure a guarantee by the Untied
Nations for the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of these
territories;
5. REQUESTS once again the African Group at the United Nations to take the
necessary steps to bring the question of such a guarantee before the
appropriate organs of the United Nations.
