AHG/Res. 85 (XIV) RESOLUTION ON THE INTERFERENCE OF THE INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF AFRICAN STATES The Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African Unity meeting in its Fourteenth Ordinary Session held in Libreville, Gabon, from 2 to 5 July 1977, Recalling the relevant provisions of article III of the OAU charter as well as those of article I of the UN Charter; Recalling provisions of Resolution CM/Res. 12 (II) and, in particular: a) the call by the Summit on all Member states to co-ordinate their foreign policies, especially the non-alignment approach vis-a-vis the existing World Powers as the only acceptable means of safeguarding African freedom, stability and prosperity; b) the Summit’s acceptance to resort to consultations among Member States to ensure the implementation of this solemn resolution; c) The Summit’s recommendation to Member States to abrogate as soon as possible, any commitment which would militate against a consistent policy of non-alignment; d) The determination of Heads of State and Government to give priority to the realization of African Unity in accordance with the Charter and, the strengthening of Afro-African Solidarity, as well as Resolution 3 of the Conference on the establishment of the OAU held in May 1963 and the Resolution CM/Res. 38 (III) on denuclearisation of Africa. Considering the grave threat to the independence, Sovereignty, territorial integrity and harmonious development of African states of which the interference in the internal Affairs of States constitutes;
