DECISION ON THE REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF SEVEN HEADS OF
STATE AND GOVERNMENT CHAIRED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC
OF UGANDA ON THE PROPOSALS OF THE GREAT
SOCIALIST PEOPLE’S LIBYAN ARAB JAMAHIRIYA
The Assembly:
1.
TAKES NOTE of the Report;
2.
COMMENDS the Committee of Seven Heads of State and Government for
the Report;
3.
REAFFIRMS that the ultimate goal of the African Union is full political and
economic integration leading to the United States of Africa;
4.
DECIDES to establish a Committee of Heads of State and Government to
be chaired by President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairperson of the African
Union, and composed of the Heads of State and Government of Algeria,
Kenya, Senegal, Gabon, Lesotho and Uganda;
5.
REQUESTS that the Committee shall consider all the ideas discussed
during the Summit and others that may be submitted or arise through
consultations and submit a report to the next session of the Assembly,
including the steps that need to be taken for the realization of this
objective, the structure, the process, the time frame required for its
achievement as well as measures that should be undertaken, in the
meantime, to strengthen the ability of the Commission to fulfil its mandate
effectively.
