PSC/PR/Comm(CXI) Page 1 COMMUNIQUE ON THE SITUATION IN THE COMORIAN ISLAND OF ANJOUAN The Peace and Security Council, at its 111th meeting held on 18 February 2008, decided as follows on the situation in the Comorian Island of Anjouan: Council, Decides to extend, for an additional period of two (2) months, the measures imposed against the illegal authorities of Anjouan, as stipulated in paragraph 5 of communiqué PSC/PR/Comm(XCV), adopted at its 95th meeting held on 10 October 2007 and extended by communiqués PSC/PR/Comm(CII) and PSC/PR/Comm(CVII) adopted at its 102nd and 107th meetings held on 26 November 2007 and 21 January 2008, respectively, as well as the mandate of the African Union Electoral and Security Assistance Mission (MAES) in the Comoros, pending the outcome of the envisaged mission to the Comoros to be led by the Chair of the Ministerial Committee of the countries of the region, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa, and the meeting of Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs to be held in Addis Ababa at the request of the Chair of the Executive Council, the Foreign Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, as a follow up to Decision Assembly/AU/Dec.186 (X) on the situation in the Comoros adopted by the Assembly of the Union at its 10th Ordinary Session held in Addis Ababa from 31 January to 2nd February 2008.
