Data from 2006-2007 population-based surveys conducted in some countries of
the region indicates that the proportion of men and women who received HIV test
and counseling within the past 12 months preceding the survey increased to 7%
each—from 3% range in similar surveys conducted earlier. With the expansion
of HTC and ART sites, similar coverage rates are expected in coming years.
