Assembly/AU/Dec.267(XIII) Page 1 DECISION ON THE NEW AFRICAN UNION FLAG DOC/ ASSEMBLY/AU/10(XII) The Assembly, 1. TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Commission on the new African Union Flag; 2. EXPRESSES its appreciation to the Panel of Experts that conducted the selection process, as well as all the participants in the competition; 3. DECIDES to adopt proposal No. 3B by Ato Yadessa Zewge Bojia of Ethiopia as the new flag of the African Union and warmly congratulates him, and DECIDES to award him the cash prize of United States Dollars ten thousand (US$ 10,000); 4. REQUESTS the Commission to take all necessary measures to reproduce the new flag with all the islands represented, distribute it to all Member States and popularise it among partner countries and other parts of the world; 5. FURTHER REQUEST the Commission to take the necessary measures for the registration of the new flag with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and DIRECTS that all the financial implications for the above activities be met from arrears of contributions; 6. DECIDES that the new flag will be launched officially during the next Ordinary Session of the Assembly in January/February 2010.
