DECISION ON THE REFORM OF THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL

The Assembly:
1. TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Committee of Ten Heads of State on the
Reform of the Security Council;
2. REAFFIRMS the Ezulwini Consensus and Sirte Declaration on the Reform of
the United Nations as the basis of any inter-governmental negotiations;
3. REQUESTS the Committee of Ten to address other Reform issues of the
United Nations System, and to present a progress Report to the next ordinary
session of the Assembly;
4. DECIDES TO RENEW the directive to the African Permanent
Representatives to the United Nations, as stated in the Assembly Decision
(Assembly/AU/Dec.184 (X) of January 2008, relating to their participation in
inter-governmental negotiations in New York;
5. ENDORSES the decision of the Committee of Ten to meet regularly and
requests the African Union Commission to facilitate the meetings.
