Assembly/AU/ Dec.353(XVI) DECISION ON THE REPORT ON AFRICA’S PARTICIPATION IN THE NAGOYA CONFERENCE ON BIODIVERSITY Doc. Assembly/AU/15(XVI) Add.3 The Assembly, 1. NOTES WITH APPRECIATION the report presented by the Republic of Gabon on Africa’s participation in the Nagoya Conference on Biodiversity; 2. CONGRATULATES the President of the Gabonese Republic His Excellency Mr. Ali Bongo ONDIMBA on all the efforts and initiatives undertaken to promote and protect the Continent’s biological diversity; 3. APPROVES the recommendations contained in the report and, in particular, AGREES on the following measures: 4. i) Include biological diversity among the priorities of the African Union; ii) Encourage Member States of the African Union to become “Parties” to all the Conventions on Biodiversity; iii) Integrate the proposal within the existing structures; REQUESTS the African Union Commission to incorporate the above measures in its programmes and submit, on regular basis, a report on the implementation of this Decision.
