DECISION ON THE PROMOTION OF CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE FOR THE
ACCELERATED AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA

The Assembly,
1.
TAKES NOTE of the proposal of Burkina Faso on the promotion of critical skills
for Accelerated and Sustainable Development in Africa; proposal complements
other initiatives such as the African Union Action Plan of the 2nd Decade of
Education;
2.
COMMENDS the Government of Burkina Faso for having hosted
the 2012
Triennial Meeting on education and vocational training in Ouagadougou, Burkina
Faso, from 12 to 17 February 2012;
3.
APPROVES the initiative of Burkina Faso and ENDORSES the recommendations
of the Triennial;
4.
CALLS UPON Member States to implement the recommendations of the
Triennial Meeting conclusions because of the importance role that education and
vocational training are expected to play in the development of the continent and
African Renaissance;
5.
REAFFIRMS its commitment to the implementation of educational policies based
on equality and geared towards the accelerated and sustainable development of
Africa;
6.
REQUESTS the Commission to arrange a consultation with the ADEA, the ADB
and the relevant institutions to develop a program of support to African countries
concerned for the appropriation, adaptation and implementation conclusions from
the Triennial of Education and Vocational Training of Ouagadougou;
7.
ALSO REQUESTS the Commission to report regularly to the Assembly on the
implementation of this decision through the Conference of Ministers of Education
of the African Union (COMEDAF) or Specialized Technical Committee.
